Ghana's fuel reality
Ghana was the first West African country to move to a 50 ppm sulfur limit for imported diesel, and that standard is set by the ECOWAS harmonized specification. In practice, fuel at the pump is often worse: local refineries received a waiver to sell diesel up to 1,500 ppm, and independent testing in Kumasi found most stations exceeding the 50 ppm limit. For a haul truck running two shifts a day, that gap is the difference between a filter that lasts and one that blocks.
